Re: Creaking/ Rattle in 2007 G55

one more thing is that the spare tire carrier can also creak if you apply lubricant and notice no change. the spare tire bolts to the carrier. The carrier is held to the rear door with 3 allen (hex head) screws. If those screws get loose you can get an annoyingly creeky or knocking sound. It reminds me of he noisy window on the 79 chevy malibu classic station wagon we had growing up. That thing never ran on 8 cylinders.

Re-tightening solves the problem. Apply a little medium (blue color) Loctite Thread Locker if you want to the threads... to do so you have to remove the screw, apply a little to the threads and screw back in. Not really necessary, but if it comes loose a 2nd time it's worth it. The screws aren't "easy" to strip, bot don't overtighted too much because if you strip them it's going to be a pain to fix.

My rear door has never squeeked, but my spare carrier has given me trouble more than once. 105k miles. My front doors can squeek on occasion though. The door hinges can also use some oiling from time to time. I got mine with 35k miles and doors (especially the rears) were pretty tight on the hinges. Applying grease to hinges (on the flat spots where it has some time to wick in) made a noticeable difference.

I hate to be one of the "I Hate Squeeking Club" but stuff like that drives me nuts!!

I have had good luck "Greasing" the Areas shown in the Attached Photos. The Specified Product is: Optimol Visogen KL300. You should be able to obtain it through your dealership).

It seems I am able to go longer than most, since I only have to apply at roughly 6 month intervals. It only takes 5 minutes to do, and my ears are greatly appreciative.

Gullwing, I hope this helps!

G-AMG, thanks for the photo essay !! I have always questioned myself whether I was greasing the right spots. I am using Vaseline as others have recommended for it is less prone to damage clothing and readily available ....although its staying power is less and requires frequent application.

Mike, I think people were talking about using Vasoline on the door SEALS, to keep them quiet.

On the SEALS I use a Meguire's Product called "Rubber and Vinyl Cleaner/Conditioner" which does a great job of cleaning AND conditioning.

RE: Creaking/ Rattle in 2007 G55

I was actually quoting from the 'Legend Keeps on Driving" book for which there is a section in the 'tips and tricks" for squeeky doors. They applied Vaseline to both latches and seals. I am always up for new ideas and products.
I have no squeeks...and really soft hands.

Thanks for the photo essay - I forgot about the little socket. Will remember next time.
