| 460 - original vinyl interior?
Again, on this late 80s 460 I am looking at, the interior is brown/tan vinyl (instead of more common checkered fabric on seats). Is this a type of original interior, or something that's been added later? Thanks

Entering the VIN number to find out what your G or one in question here can give you clues as to what it came with and what it is missing.... Just remember when using, include "WDB" before the rest of the vin. (ie: wdb460331...)

This was an option. Remember that many of these early models could be custom made to suit the customer. |

Thanks. Ran it and got the following Options codes which don't describe exactly but could identify the interior as original? S74 and 75 would refer to the two jump seats in the back (LWB) I suppose.
S30 driver's seat headrest (с 1978)
S32 co-driver's seat headrest (с 1978)
S74 longitudinal seat bench, right, double occupancy (с 1978)
S75 longitudinal seat bench, left, double occupancy (с 1978)
V19 interior trim in brown (с 1978)
V24 interior trim in the rear (с 1978)

I just wanted to ensure if was a valid optional interior, and not some custom re-upholstering added by someone later. Sounds like it could be a legitimate option, though most of the pictures of 460 G interiors show the checkered cloth (probably default?). Thanks. |

I recently posted the complete list of available option for the 1984 model year. Leatherette (MB-Tex), Option U40 was the only option other than the standard cloth seats, Option U45. Option V05 was a fancier version of the cloth. |

looks like a clean job - but its not original. If it was, all parts would have been tan. A two tone driver head rest is definitely an upholsterer job, as well as the two tone seats. Not necessarily a bad sign - vehicles that old usually have seats in bad shape. |

Thanks, I also thought the same. I know some purists could balk at reupholstered seats etc., but I think if it's done well it can look and wear quite well. Actually the front seats may need an upholsterer to fix up a few things. Cheers! |

Robert, as I see from the picture the vinil on the seets matches with door covers, which means (to me  ) they are original. Yes as Harald mentioned they are been reholstered but this is a good sign for me - the previous owner has taken a good care of the wagen.
My case is litle bit different - I have Recaro seats with fabric not with vinil, I dont know is this common or exeption.

the centre trim and door cards are not the same although the colour match is almost identical, BUT the finish is as as good as the original (if not better) |

Indeed, it's identical!! Must be original then, I can't imagine that the vehicle I looked at (which originated in Egypt) and the one on Ebay UK went to the same uphosterer! :-)
