Centre Diff Lock - Problem and Cure

I spent Saturday in the dunes and got stuck on only a small crest. Having had the centre and rear diff locks on I was surprised to get stuck. I then noticed that both red lights had extinguished and later discovered that I'd lost my lockers. I traced the problem on Sunday to the centre diff lock bell housing, the vacuum being sufficient to that point. I'd had the same problem last year and it was a split in the diaphragm. Having removed the bell housing it was obvious that the diaphragm had again split though this time much worse than before (see picture). I have no recollection of any other members on the forum having such a repeat probelm. Any thoughts?

Mike.
