off road lights

I slapped on some KC daylighter the cheap ones...

For now they are mounted higher up than i would like. They slid right into the factory hole in the brushgard... I thought about putting them on the bar but you would have to make the hole bigger and then drill a hole on the bottom side to slide the stud all the way threw and put the nut and washer on to hole them in place. Im not sure the stud is long enough to make it all the way threw.

Anyway you will have to click to make the picture bigger....

The lights are not on in this picture, i guess thats the refection of the flash.

I have no clue why this picture's color looks like this. it was taken like 5 second after the top one...

RE: off road lights

Nice, how do you manage to see out your rear with the massive spare? To lower the lights, you could always drill another set of holes in each upright, much easier than drilling through the bar.

I see you have the orange blinkers, i have a set of clear as well as orange (I change them depending on my mood), my clear ones have turned yellowish towards the rear of each lens, if yours are still new looking, wanna sell em? PM or email me Michael.tomsa@gmx.de . If not, i'll resort to buying new ones from vlad.

RE: off road lights

The turn signal covers on the front fenders of my 2003 G500 turned a bit yellow and were replaced under warranty by the local dealer. If you still have time left on your warranty...

RE: off road lights

Yeah, while my G was living at the dealer (2 months), i mentioned it to them (along with the melted rear lights). They said they that i could have used something on the lens to turn them yellow, and that they would not be covered..... but they replaced the rear lights. I hate my dealer.... totally incompetent, but, still under warranty (until sept this year).

RE: off road lights

There's gotta be at least one (more likely ten) other MB dealer in "Chicagoland" that might be more helpful. How many have been tried? Maybe a different dealer will provide a different answer. You know, there are plenty of times when you can just keep asking the same question until you get the answer you want.

Re: off road lights

I just ordered the orange ones from valad at fourwheelclub. Mb replaced mine 3 times for color issues and leaking... finally i said screw it and bought those. I also did the side markers too...

As for the spair i figures whats behind me isnt important. However if you in a car and on my butt i cant see ya at all.. same goes for those guy on bikes that fly up behind you...

I drilled out the hole in the bar and the stud is to short. I then took appart the lights but the part that holds the stud is rivited to the housing... So i guess they will stay where there at lol...

RE: off road lights

I just go those 10 inch diameter Lightforce XGT's
http://www.lightforce.net.au/handheld.html
HID (xenon) models are even more powerful (1 mile reach) bu three times more expensive. The benefit is only 3 amps draw.
I am planning to mount them on magnets. That way they can be put anywhere on the car and even used as searchlights. Good for theft proofing too.
