Although I am a bit anal about things of this sort , I am going back and forth whether to mount the first aid kit in its original place of the passenger footwell where previous owner removed holder and replaced with speaker. I have secured a new plastic holder but it sure seems that it is perfect for a passenger to kick upon entry and in time will need to be replaced again. 1. Those that have the original kit in the passenger footwell, have you found this to be a nuisance ? 2. Where were the kits mounted on the 86 and newer models ? (seeking alternative) A trivial question, I know, this seem to be the only thing my "purist" demeanor is riding the fence on. Mike

I say put it where it belongs. -Dave G.

Posts: 1010 | RE: First Aid kit mounting...pre 85 versus post 85 Well... mine is where is suppose to be for pre 85 G and I find this location very handy - I notice I have a first aid kit a good month after I bought the wagen ... then I did a quick search and found the fire-extinguisher under the glove compartment. The funniest part of the story - sticker attached to the Fire extinguisher stated that the last inspection is done back in 1993 and it is still in full working order.

I will go original mounting holes. Mike

The warning triangle is mounted under the dashboard on the passenger side. Johan-Kr

I have never had anyone kick or bang the box. What I do have to watch for, however, is people (e.g., my son) using it as a footrest when sitting in the front seat.
