First Aid kit mounting...pre 85 versus post 85

I am on working on my last item to bring my G back to the way it was originally built from the factory, the first aid kit. Although I am a bit anal about things of this sort , I am going back and forth whether to mount the first aid kit in its original place of the passenger footwell where previous owner removed holder and replaced with speaker.
I have secured a new plastic holder but it sure seems that it is perfect for a passenger to kick upon entry and in time will need to be replaced again.
1. Those that have the original kit in the passenger footwell, have you found this to be a nuisance ?
2. Where were the kits mounted on the 86 and newer models ? (seeking alternative)

A trivial question, I know, this seem to be the only thing my "purist" demeanor is riding the fence on.

on the newer 460 G's the first aid kit is held under the dash (passenger-side) where your toolkit is.

hope this helps mike.

personally......i think its better situated on the older 460's

Mine's always been on the outboard wall of the passenger foowell and I've never had anyone comment about it being in the way, and the few occaisions I've had to ride over there, I didn't notice it was there.  I say put it where it belongs.

Well... mine is where is suppose to be for pre 85 G and I find this location very handy - I notice I have a first aid kit a good month after I bought the wagen ... then I did a quick search and found the fire-extinguisher under the glove compartment. The funniest part of the story - sticker attached to the Fire extinguisher stated that the last inspection is done back in 1993 and it is still in full working order.

Thanks for your thoughts guys....time to shop ebay for the actual box(or at least one from another chassis), now that I got the holder. I will go original mounting holes.

On mine, the extinguisher is in front of the passenger side seat box, and the first aid kit is together with the toolkit instde the same box. The warning triangle is mounted under the dashboard on the passenger side.

Re: First Aid kit mounting...pre 85 versus post 85

Does anyone have a picture of this and maybe its original equipment?
My '84 (SWB) passengers right footwell box is gone! Fire extinguisher and warning triangle are beneath the glove compartment (Who carries gloves in them...?) :o)

I will shot some tomorow, all my equipment is on the place. BTW the glove box is coming from the past, when the drivers had used gloves

Re: First Aid kit mounting...pre 85 versus post 85

I have an original box w/contents mounted in the passenger foot-well. I have never had anyone kick or bang the box. What I do have to watch for, however, is people (e.g., my son) using it as a footrest when sitting in the front seat.
