RE: EBAY 300GE

I'm 99.9 % sure this one is a scam, it was listed on e-bay before with a buy it now of somewhere around $30K a month or so ago, and it had a different seller and the location has changed. I think it might have been on clubgwagen too, but I don't remember for sure.

BEWARE!!!

Cheers,
Ben

RE: EBAY 300GE

There was a 280 GE on eBay recently, in FL, very nice looking G. Bidding fell short at 16.5 on a 22 buy it now price. A few days later it was listed again but at a 19 buy it now. Bidding fell short again. Sellers name was John. A day later it was listed as second chance sale at 14. I get an email from a guy named Sam who claims to be the owner in Paris on business. If I give him $14k he will deliver the truck for free. As if. About an hour later I get email from Ebay saying the original sellers account had been hijacked and that the current offer was bogus. Big surprise, eh?

This is about the fifth time in the last year i have seen this on cars and motorcycles on Ebay. But I have bought a Porsche, an Excursion, my G500, an E30, an FJ62, and three motorcycles on ebay with zero problems. All were just as advertised, no surprises.

Re: EBAY 300GE

Well the VIN is legit - but why does it say "You can have it only for 8100." in the description but the current bid of $9,200 doesn't even make reserve? Also where is the snorkle listed in the description?

RE: EBAY 300GE

looked at clubgwagen, it looks like the exact same truck as the one in Texas listed for $43,500, and I think I remember the previous e-bay listing being out of tx too. Scammers usually give an outragious reserve and try to "sell" outside of ebay for a cheap buy it now, this way it is harder to track back to the scammer and does not fall under e-bay rules.

Cheers,
Ben

Re: EBAY 300GE

i gave up on selling stuff on ebay due to scam buyers, its a shame as it is a great source of stuff. when i advertised my g on autotrader, it appeared on ebay, same pics the lot!

I found that when I listed my G on ebay it also attracted a lot of scammers but a few genuine buyers as well.

But when I listed it on Autotrader in addition to Ebay it gave affirmation to the genuine buyer that the G was legit. He bought it (almost) sight unseen. Honestly I almost had to force him to look at it before parting with his cash.

He told me eBay was great as it let him see the G in more detail, bigger pics and with a better description than on Autotrader.

So even though there are a lot of scammers (strangely most were from "Canada") I think it still helped with the sale and would do it again.

RE: EBAY 300GE

It's local enough for me to look at it in person (20 minutes or so).
I e-mailed the seller asking if I could come see it in person. Let's wait and see what reply I get.

regards,
Leon

RE: EBAY 300GE

Yeah, something is real fishy......

I did entered a bid yesterday - a real good one - and the seller canceled the bid, I also noticed there were lots of bids cancelled - all with the same remark:
"please email me"

So some kind of a scam is going on, as the auction price went back down to around $4000 to keep the fools (like me) coming ........
