Older MB diesels and parts are getting harder and harder to come by (especially here in Austin because of all the BD use and WVO conversions). I have a buddy who builds and repairs diesel 123 cars and he spent over a year looking for a crank for an OM616 (for a friend's G). You used to be able to get a clean 123 for a couple of grand, now you're lucky to find a parts car for that much. I've seen sedans and wagons on craigslist for $8K. Apparently everybody is catching on that a well-maintianed 616 or 617 will last half a million miles.

Both are able performers in the G, and neither will tear up the road.I have a post to AMZ around here somehwere that superimposes the torque curves of 110, 617, & 617a on the same graph and you can see the relationships.-Dave G.

His skill and knowledge has enabled him to produce a better than factory conversion with fewer problems and more reliability. He has really achieved excellence. When my 230ge puffs its last breath it will be turned into a 300 WT GD.
