runnin on veg'...

my bro and I installed the veggie kit this weekend and I filled up today on soybean oil...

kit took 3 hours to install and now that I know how, I could probably do it in 1/2 that time... $250 from www.fattywagons.com ...

now I can run petro diesel, bio diesel, or straight veg...

feelin pretty great about it...

I was running bio (b99.9) in it... smells about the same although I had to put 5 gals of stinky ol petro in so there is still a little of that mxing with the veg oil... might smell better when it's pure veg. I bought 3 containers of soybean oil at costco for $16.29 each... that's a little over $3/gal but I have a local guy who will sell it in bulk for $2/gal. I also have a local sushi place that will give me 20 gals per week of WVO but I haven't set up my filter yet... I won't use more than 10 gals per week on average as the G is really a local driver for me... I drove it about 350 miles this weekend and although it was fine on the freeway, it's a little underpowered for the steep hills, has no AC, etc., so I won't be doing alot of road trips with it... I will be driving the hell out of it in town though...

How much do you have to buy at a time for that price?

JCaine,
Could you explain why you need to add straight diesel to you 99.5 bio? I have been running 50/50 diesel/straight soybean oil with no conversion kit in South Carolina at ambient temps down to 70(F) or so. It's working great.

I didn't need to add the diesel... I just ran out of fuel where there was no bio or veg available...

you wouldn't need to ad any diesel to b99 unless the temp gets below freezing...
