Decorhaus Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Contact for Panels in Europe Thanks all for the responses on the previous '86 Cabrio help request. I'm looking for some replacement body panels and Harald mentioned that someone might have recently purchased some panels from Graz. So - does anyone have any contact info/experience buying panel from Graz? thanks in advance

You should be able to receive any and all parts in one day. Sometimes it takes two days. I think you will find that origonal erzatsteile from Mercedes are quite priceworthy and better quality than aftermarket parts. Richard

Decorhaus Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: Contact for Panels in Europe Richard, I can most certainly get the parts from the local MB dealership. They would be happy to sell them to me. They are rather salty. As an example, the MB dealer quotes 1 single 460 headlamp cover at 220 Euro. I can get a pair at 4x4parts for $159. So I'm looking for some alternative sources of supply.

If €200 seems too steep for you, why not try ebay.de. There are new OE headlamp covers listed regularly. -Martin

Headlamp covers we sold you as we sold to Paul are original Mercedes parts made in Austria. If you can prove somehow that I sold you a "copies" I will return you double cost of all parts and will apologizes in a front of all forum members. I am very sensitive to words "Original" or "OEM" and will newer list any single bolt as an OEM if is it not. To Paul, contact me at Mercedes@fourbyfourclub.com and I,ll be able to send all body parts from Stuttgart, and save you shipping cost Regards, Vlad fourbyfourclub

I may be mistaken on this since my memory has been known to fade, but I bought a set of ABS lamp covers through your company that are not the same as the original OE rubber/foam covers. The covers you sold are of very good quality and fit perfectly, but they are not the same construction as those sold through my local MB dealer. I chose to purchase the lamp covers that you sell because they can easily be painted, can easily be repaired in case of future damage and don't have the steel mounting clips that tend to rust on the MB version. Again, no offense meant. It was actually a plug for your company. -Martin

I think that with today's information technology almost anything is possible. When I lived in Belgium, I was able to source parts from many different sources. My experience is that origonal parts from Mercedes are superior, if you are selective. Many parts can be replaced with Bosch, Sachs, Bilstein, etc. Body panels and trim from Mercedes are superior in many ways but, that is a personal choice. Whether to keep your truck origonal or not is a choice only you can make. As an example, I was able to purchase new headlamp mouldings A 460 880 03 40 and A 460 880 04 40 for Euro 76.71 each, from my local Mercedes distributor. These prices included taxes and delivery. If you are willing to look around and ask for some discounts these prices are available. These aren't the only items I purchased. I spent several thousand on restoration parts and over two years on my restoration. I wish you well and maybe you should take the offer from Vlad. We don't all have the time and inclination to source our parts ourselves for the best price. It's a matter of priorities and pocketbook. All the best, Richard

The ABS headlight surrounds are an MB product used primarily on the W461 series. They are not as robust and tend to move around a little on the front of the truck. We keep these in stock for $66.26 per side. It's a good economical alternative, however we typically price both types for the customer and let them decide what's best for their budget / situation. Cheers,

They fit better and have bigger weld folds.
