Frans Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Rear Sliding windows - Original type? According to my knowledge, in RSA anyway, alot of G's came into the country as panel vans and the owner then converted it to a station wagon. I would then be the purgative of the owner to put in a sliding window of his choice, which was the case with my G. However I see similarities to some panel vans here and the windows you would find on the SWB G's. Is this type of sliding window a original G type? Can one order this from MB dealer? I *think* I have seen a 3 door LWB Puch with sliding windows too.... Just a guess but on the LWB it might be one of those options for special vehicles or only on 461s...

I have always wished that the rear door window would go down. I am worndering if they did not do that due to the aero-dynamic swirl created back there. You can always see the dust and dirt build-up on the back door area if you know what I mean. But it would have been nice...

Maxwell, Sorry, I was pre-coffee when I read that. If they are not an option it should be possible to cut one down from a SWB and fit it in the standard LWB. For the uber long window in the converted panel truck, longer glass and frame could be constructed and have a section that is a slider. My thinking there is to use the SWB window slider for the forward sections on each side next to the seating. -Dai

You see my window as installed by a company here in RSA and looks totally different.
