ATF too much-ok?

If I have too much ATF (2 inches above top dipstick notch) does it matter?
Can I just drain surplus or have to change the total volume?

You need to lower the level to the correct level. Too much ATF can cause problems, too. Use a vacuum tool to suck it out the dipstick tube.

Automatics need to be checked on level ground with the engine running at operating temperature. 80 degrees C/176 F. It should be between the marks.

If you check them cold without the motor running you can get a very false reading, sometimes oil will draw up the dipstick tube making you think that it is overfilled.

A plastic water bottle with a long plastic hose attached to the end should do the trick. Squeeze the bottle flat, insert the tube into the dipstick hole and release the bottle to suck the fluid out. You may need to work the bottle a bit with you hands ot unflatten it. Not pretty but it works.

RE: ATF too much-ok?

Nugat,
You write yours in Poland and I'll write mine in the US and maybe we can collaborate on the international version! I have a friend who is a writer and is fascinated by the stories I tell her of the international co-operation and spirit of community that we have here on the forum. We should all sit back and appreciate this unique situation that transcends social/political/geographic boundaries!
Thanks everyone!

Jonathan
