5cyl turbo diesel w/ standard trans

There is a 5-cylinder turbo diesel mated to a standard transmission listed on ebay.

Might be a good swap for those wanting to get rid of their gasoline engine. I'm not too familiar with the electrics/sensors required for a swap, but it might be easy.

the description in the ad must be off. it says it is an 84 190D, so it is not a 617A, and I don't think they made 190s in 1984. it looks different than my two 617A's.

Not a 617/617A engine, but what I think is a 602.xxx engine from a 201 chassis.

Does anyone have any knowledge about a possible transplant using this engine?

Thanks.

RE: 5cyl turbo diesel w/ standard trans

It is a very similar engine to what was used in the 250GD's, it is a 5cyl, 2.5L Turbo engine, type 602.XXX. It should be in the late 80's, I have had a few 190D's with this engine, and they are pretty peppy, but I would imagine that in a G it would be a little sluggish without some tuning. I think these just had electronic idle control, so if you could find a doner with the electronics for that it should go in a G with a set of 250GD mounts... but I have never swapped it before, so I could be wrong.

Cheers,
Ben
