280GE Thermostat replacement

Hello Folks

I need to replace the thermostat on my G. It is either not there or blocked in the open position. I found this out on my recent trip to the Kalahari when I had very little heating and the temp gauge was at best only just past the white marking!!
Is this a straight forward exercise or is there something I need to look out for?

Be sure to obtain an MB branded replacement and the O-ring. Aftermarket brands have been known to cause problems.

Be sure to orient it properly both as to the direction of flow, but also with respect to the tiny air bleeder hole being up.

All that Dutch says is true except you don't need to pay the Main Stealer price, oe is BER just specify that from a good Auto parts shop, Western Auto stock them.
